I'm Tom Eckmann
and I've worked with startup,
early-stage
and growth
companies
for more than 35
years. I've been a senior consultant with several
international management consulting firms,
led
operations for several public companies, and started a number of
companies of my own. I have a passion for entrepreneurship,
and when I'm not running, writing about, or advising new companies, I'm teaching
about them at the University of Washington.
My latest start-up
departs from the type of ventures I've led in the past, but it's one
that I'm very passionate about and which allows me to work with some
fantastic women.
GoGirl
Academy offers career advancement programs for women. It
helps them gain a competitive edge in the workplace and become their
very best selves. We've launched classes in Seattle and are
receiving very positive feedback from students, partner
organizations, and others who have an interest in helping women
succeed in the workplace. Please

Another venture
currently underway is
AllGreen
Renewables. I started this company in early 2009 to focus
on renewable biomass heating for
homes, businesses and institutions. We have licensed some of
the top biomass (hot water) boilers from Europe and taken them
through the rigorous safety and emission testing protocols necessary
to sell them throughout North America. The weak economy and
related lack of purchase finance alternatives has slowed progress
for this venture. However, we still have great hopes that
demand for these products will grow as the economy recovers and the
country moves toward a national energy policy that levels playing
field for climate-friendly, alternative fuels. Please see
our
website for more information.
Personally, I do business
as Absolute Business Services Inc., a company I started with my wife in 1993 to
manage our various career endeavors. Since I like to do lots of
things, usually at the same time, this umbrella business entity
helps me keep things straight.
In 2004 I wrote my
first book,
An Interpreneur’s
Journey: The Birth of a New Economy Business.
It is the fictional account of a new business
start-up and provides real-life examples of what first-time, and for
that matter, serial entrepreneurs can expect when starting a new
company. It is a “how to” intended to show people
what's needed to create new
businesses and reinvent old ones using the Internet. I believe
Internet entrepreneurs ––Interpreneurs––and "new economy"
businesses will lead the way in the 21st century. For more
